About Mukkatira Bethri Family
Proudly hosting the 24th Kodava Inter-Family Cricket Cup 2026
Our Legacy
The Mukkatira (Muckatira) family of Bethri, M. Badaga Village stands as one of the most distinguished Kodava okka, deeply rooted in the illustrious martial and cultural heritage of Kodagu. With a proud lineage shaped by valour, discipline, and unwavering community spirit, the family continues to uphold the timeless values that define the Kodava identity.
From early times, Kodavas have been revered as a warrior-agriculturist community, and the Mukkatira family has honourably contributed to this legacy. Members of the family have served the nation in various capacities, including the defence services, reflecting a steadfast commitment to duty, courage, and national pride. The ainmane at Bethri remains the sacred and cultural nucleus of the family, symbolising unity, continuity, and ancestral reverence.
Oor Takka — Clan No. 1
Within M. Badaga Village, the Mukkatira family holds the esteemed position of Clan No. 1 as Oor Takka, a mark of honour and responsibility that reflects the family's long-standing leadership, credibility, and service to the village community.
Today, the Mukkatira family comprises around 80 members, bound together by strong kinship and shared heritage. Though many members are spread across India and abroad — particularly in Bengaluru — their emotional and cultural bond with Bethri and M. Badaga Village remains profound and unbroken. The family continues to gather for important rituals, festivals, and collective initiatives, ensuring that Kodava traditions are preserved and meaningfully passed on to future generations.
Pioneering in Sports
In keeping with its progressive outlook and commitment to youth development, the Mukkatira family has taken pioneering steps in the field of sports. Notably, in 2025, the family achieved a proud milestone by becoming the first family to host a football tournament on a professional turf ground, creating a modern sporting platform aimed at nurturing young talent and encouraging structured sports participation among the younger generation.
The family continues to celebrate traditional Kodava festivals such as Kailpodh, Puttari, and Kaveri Sankramana with great reverence and unity. Flagship initiatives like the Mukkatira Cricket Namme further exemplify the family's vision of strengthening bonds, promoting sportsmanship, and fostering collective pride.
Guided by the blessings of revered elders and energized by the dynamic participation of its youth, the Mukkatira Bethri family moves forward with dignity and purpose — honouring its glorious past while shaping a progressive and united future for generations to come.
The Festival
One of the largest community-driven sporting events in India
The 24th Kodava Inter-Family Cricket Festival, proudly hosted by the Mukkatira Bethri Family, stands as one of the largest community-driven sporting events in India. What began as a celebration of sport and togetherness has today evolved into a grand cultural and athletic spectacle that unites Kodavas from across the world.
This year's edition brings together 300+ Kodava families, fielding over 300 teams and 4,000+ men & women players, all competing in the true spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship. The festival serves as a stage where age, background, and status dissolve — replaced by the shared love for the game and deep-rooted family pride.
Over the course of the tournament, the grounds will come alive with vibrant energy, music, and community spirit, attracting 25,000+ spectators in person — friends, families, and well-wishers cheering from the sidelines. Beyond the physical arena, the excitement extends to the digital world, with a projected online reach exceeding 1,00,000 viewers through live streaming, social media coverage, and community engagement.
Top honours for champions, runners-up, and semi-finalists across men's and women's categories
More than just a cricket tournament, this festival is a celebration of Kodava unity, heritage, and identity. The 24th edition aims to elevate this legacy even further — with professional-level organization, digital engagement, and opportunities for brands and partners to be part of an event that resonates deeply within one of India's most passionate and close-knit communities.
